Villamayor is a rural city center in Zaragoza’s metropolitan area environment. The building’s location, outside urban area, puts it in the surrounding landscape. A characteristic, peculiar and hard Monegro’s landscape.
With these initial determinations one should think what to do in that place. To introduce pieces in the landscape? To make landscape? We chose to integrate. To adapt to the topography’s level differences, to protect, to position according to the sun, to see the horizon... All this led into a manipulation process, to take off to put in, to go through to see and to come in, to grow in order to generate more space, etc...
However, a serial and diverse program also leads to a rational process. Geometry adapts to topography to solve its function. This project comes from gatherring landscape and rational geometry. To merge natural with artificial, to integrate it into it.
